Hotel Hugo Soho – New York
New York, my eyes are still burning and my feet are still aching from my 7 day short love affair with you; ultimately I’m now a little bit lovestruck with Hotel Hugo in the trendy district that is Soho.
Staying during New York Fashion Week was an awe-inspiring adventure. I’d never visited the city before, only lusted over it.
We chose to stay in Soho mainly because of recommendations, but also because it seemed like the younger-hip place to be. Right we were.
We obviously chose our hotel based on TripAdvisor reviews because who doesn’t these days?!
Hotel Hugo did not disappoint. It was a stones throw away from the main buzz of Soho, a 5-10 minute walk and you were in the main streets that were adorned by Louis Vuitton, Prada and Chanel, not to mention a few minutes away from all the New York Fashion week shows. (The outfits of passer-bys on these streets during NYFW are not to be missed.)
There was no detail overlooked in this hotel, even down to the takeaway coffee cups that were placed alongside the coffee machine in the bedroom… These came in handy on morning one at 3am when we had obtuse jet lag.
We had the perfect weather during our stay, 29°c most days to be precise, making Hugo on the rooftop an enviable place to be. With views of the Hudson River and the Statue of Liberty, this was a selfie backdrop not to be missed… I obviously exploited the skyline, day and night. If you wanted to go one step above literally, then Azul on the rooftop was your next port of call, it’s got the cantina vibe which blends seamlessly with its Manhattan made architectural surroundings.
Cafe Hugo was my knight in shining armour when that initial jet lag kicked in on day one. My hunger pangs were at large and there was only one thing I had in mind, what’s more American than pancakes and bacon with a side of syrup?
Repeat the above for 6 nights and you’ve got yourself a very hip, trendy stay in the best area of New York if you ask me.
Thanks Hugo, we’ll be back soon, especially for those comfy beds.
